I've discovered this wonderful website which sell the most exquisite cake stands using vintage crockery.
Wowee - they're out of my price range. Rich man or National Lottery Win where are you?
So I decided to investigate making my own and found this:

Now, I just need to quit my job to give me time to make them. Cottage industry maybe.......................??

Oh my goodness, I love them, especially with that cup on the top. I am not going to even look at the price though, that might depress me.
